The TGA Sweeps have been discontinued in 2022 for lack of participation. The principle reason for the TGA sweeps was to provide operational funds for the organization. With low level of play, the TGA was losing funds monthly, thus voiding its purpose. For those that did support the sweeps, we thank you. Money donated to Jr. Golf is not used for TGA operating expenses,
Lauryn Nguyen (16) shot a 9 under par (135) over the two day tournament at Meadow Park to win the Girl’s Division, while Henry Mills (16) shot a 1 under par (143) to win the Boy’s Division. We have some great junior golfers in the area. Good playing everyone. Please come back next year.
Paul Mitzel (defending champion) is again this years TGA City Amateur Champion. He shot 71-66-74 211, beating out Sean Packer by 8 strokes at 219; with the rest of the field a ways back.
This year the Tacoma Golf Association is proud to announce that it will hold it’s 60th annual Junior Amateur golf tournament. Youths ages 12 to 17 July 1 are eligible to participate. This year the 36 hole tournament will be held at Allenmore Golf Course on July 27 and 28. Allenmore is one of the original founding members of the TGA and has been a strong supporter of junior golf for many years.
For many years, the TGA has a mission to support and promote junior golf in the greater Tacoma area. In addition to annual tournament, they provide golf balls for low income junior golfers and scholarships. Scholarships are awarded to the tournament winners in the boys and girls divisions, and to a selected individual that shows exceptional sportsmanship. These $1000 scholarship are awarded whether the recipient goes on to play competitively in college or not.
Anyone wanting to sign up for the tournament, can do so on this website.
